Respecting a Superstar, While Holding Mixed Feelings

【From X by MLB】

I fully admit it. Shohei Ohtani is a true superstar. His talent is rare, and what he has achieved is extraordinary.

At the same time, as a lifelong supporter of the Hanshin Tigers, my feelings are not simple. Every day, here in Japan, the news is filled with Ohtani. Highlights, records, interviews, headlines. Again and again, it is only his name.

Meanwhile, Japanese professional baseball quietly fades into the background. The NPB, with its deep history and passionate fans, is slowly being pushed aside. Of course, global success is something to celebrate. Ohtani represents Japan on the world stage, and that deserves respect.

Still, I cannot help feeling a sense of loss. The drama of Koshien. The intensity of pennant races. The players who fight every day, right here in Japan. Sometimes I wonder whether the balance can ever return. Whether NPB will once again stand proudly beside MLB in the spotlight.

I will continue to admire Shohei Ohtani. And at the same time, I will continue to cheer for the Hanshin Tigers — steadily, quietly, and with unwavering loyalty. Because for me, baseball is not only about the biggest star. It is about where my heart belongs.
